Will Air Flow Be An Issue With My Snorkel Beast

We're asked this frequently, and while several factors come into play, here's what you need to know:

Our snorkel beasts feature a larger intake area than the snorkel pipe itself. Consider this: a standard 3½-inch snorkel pipe has an intake area of 62cm². Our beasts and grilles, however, provide 130cm² of intake area—more than double the pipe's capacity.

Even our most detailed beast designs maintain at least 50% open intake area (65cm²), which still exceeds what the snorkel pipe can draw through. This principle applies across all models, including the larger Safari Armax/AirMax and other factory snorkels we accommodate.

We've validated this through real-world vehicle testing with excellent results. Customers across Australia and internationally—including those with heavily modified 4WDs—continue to enjoy our products without any airflow issues.

Will your beasts fit my snorkel head?

Our standard designs accommodate any snorkel head featuring two side-mount screws. The air ram design has become an industry standard, used by virtually every major accessories manufacturer—including Safari, ARB, TJM, and Dobinsons—with uniform dimensions of 150mm wide × 110mm tall. We also offer grill sizes in 165mm × 122mm for alternate configurations.

Important Note for Safari Snorkel Users

Many Safari snorkel kits come with fully moulded heads that don't include side-mount screws. If you have this style, we have available hollow grill adapters, but you would need to drill through the snorkel head to attach it.
